Your data
Data & account deletion
Expense Hunt has no accounts and no server holding your records, so you are in control. Here is how to delete everything, wherever a copy may be.
Where your data can be
| Location | What is there | Who can delete it |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone | All your transactions, budgets, goals and notes. | You, in the app (step 1) — immediately. |
| Your Google Drive (only if you used Drive backup) | A backup copy in a hidden app folder. | You, in the app or Google Drive (step 2). |
| Your AI provider (only if you used the assistant) | Whatever you submitted to them. | You, with that provider (step 3). |
| Google Play / RevenueCat (only if you subscribed) | Purchase and subscription records under an anonymous ID. | Us on your request (step 4). |
You don’t need to sign in to delete anything, and Expense Hunt does not create an account for you. Uninstalling the app also removes its data from your phone, but follow steps 2–4 to remove copies elsewhere.
1. Erase everything on your phone
- Open Expense Hunt and go to Settings.
- Tap Erase all data on this phone and confirm.
- The app removes your transactions, accounts, budgets, goals, notes, preferences, saved AI keys and passphrase, and cancels its scheduled reminders. This cannot be undone.
Tip: if you might want your records later, export a backup file first (Settings → Backup & sync → Export backup file).
2. Delete your Google Drive backup
- In the app, open Settings → Backup & sync.
- Tap Delete my data from Google Drive. This removes the backup files the app created.
- Optionally, revoke the app’s access at myaccount.google.com/permissions by choosing Expense Hunt and Delete all connections, which also deletes its hidden app data.
Backup files you exported yourself (to Drive, email or elsewhere) are copies you control; delete them where you saved them.
3. AI provider data
If you used the assistant, the provider you picked (for example Google, OpenAI, Anthropic) received what you submitted under your own account and API key. Expense Hunt cannot see or delete that. Remove your key in Settings → AI assistant, and use the provider’s dashboard or privacy contact to delete your data or API history.
4. Subscription records
If you bought Premium, cancel it first in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Expense Hunt → Cancel) — deleting data does not cancel billing. Purchase records are held by Google Play and by RevenueCat, our subscription service, under an anonymous ID with no link to your finances. We can ask RevenueCat to delete that record.
Request deletion by email
To ask us to delete subscription-related records, or if you need help with any step, email us from your own address:
To: support@thinkercart.com
Subject: Delete my Expense Hunt data
Include: your Google Play order ID (from your Google Play receipt email) if you subscribed. Please don’t send passwords, passphrases or API keys.
We reply to confirm, may ask a question to verify it is you, and complete requests within 30 days. We will tell you when it’s done.
What we may keep
Where the law requires it (for example tax and accounting records of paid subscriptions), we keep the minimum necessary for as long as required, then delete it. We hold no financial data you entered in the app, so there is none to keep.
See the Privacy Policy for retention details.
